“No bottlings will be done before March. I find it’s a vintage with a lot of fruit – quite a big production volume – but we have everything in the wines – I think 23 and 20 are comparable in terms of the heat of the vintage but 20 had very low volume and 23 much more….”

2023 Bourgogne Côte d’Or Pinot Noir
From Fixin, half could actually be labelled Fixin – nearly 60-year-old vines. Using this Côte d’Or label since the 2022 vintage.
Hmm, classy, quite a Gevrey dark depth and energy. Good scake and energy, a faint rasp of tannin. That’s a very tasty finish too – a slightly rustic shape but what a delicious wine.
2023 Gevrey-Chambertin La Justice
Vinified separately since 2019 as these are young vines for the domaine – 30…
A silkier width of aroma – very pretty high tones. Silkier texture too, that’s more direct and classy textured. A more sophisticated and also more direct wine…

A lovely depthg of aroma – dark, concentrated but alive and faintly floral. Silkier than the last but extra concentration too – juicy, long, great villages – this is often a sweetspot wine for the domaine and this year it’s a great one – just a little mineral and saline finishing…

A fresher more mineral nose, even a hint of spice and tobacco. Here’s a direct mineral, almost muscled style of flavour – going very long. To keep 5-10 years…
2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Petit Cazetiers
Naddeff have some that they blend, but this the smallest 1er of Gevrey is only bottled as such here. Thereßs a barrel this year but in 24, this combined with Goulots was still only 1 barrel.
A more airy and floral width of aroma. In the mouth too – what an elegant, fluid wine – what a different beast to the common Cazetiers ! So refined – I love it.
2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Combe aux Moines
About 0.5 hectares, planted in 1954. ‘Never a high yielding plot – a good year is 8 barrels. This neighbours the Petit Cazetiers but with much bigger ‘plates’ of rock.’
A larger scale to this but floral accented and attractive. More fluid and floral complexity. Gorgeously finishing. Yes!
2023 Charmes-Chambertin
Old vines – planted in 1910.
Deep, complex, a hint of reduction in this one. Utra fluid, straddling the border between silky and velvety texture. Then a burst of finishing width that ever-so slowly fades… Simply excellent wine…

2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles-Vignes
Open since the previous evening.
Large, spicy nose. Much like the 23 this has lovely texture. The finish is long and satisfying though overall I prefer the 23 today.

« Aucune mise en bouteille ne sera faite avant mars. Je trouve que c’est un millésime avec beaucoup de fruits – un volume de production assez important – mais nous avons tout dans les vins – je pense que 23 et 20 sont comparables en termes de chaleur du millésime, mais 20 avait un volume très faible et 23 beaucoup plus… »

Bourgogne Côte d’Or Pinot Noir 2023
De Fixin, la moitié pourrait en fait être étiquetée Fixin – des vignes de près de 60 ans. J’utilise cette étiquette Côte d’Or depuis le millésime 2022.
Hmm, classe, une profondeur et une énergie assez sombres de Gevrey. Bon gâteau et énergie, une légère râpe de tanin. C’est aussi une finition très savoureuse – une forme légèrement rustique, mais quel vin délicieux.

Une largeur d’arôme plus soyeuse – de très jolis tons aigus. Texture plus soyeuse aussi, qui est plus directe et plus élégante. Un vin plus sophistiqué et aussi plus direct…
2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles-Vignes
Voici 9 parcelles de tout autour du village. Plantations de 1929-1989
Une belle profondeur d’arôme – sombre, concentré mais vivant et légèrement floral. Plus soyeux que le dernier, mais une concentration supplémentaire aussi – juteux, longs, grands villages – c’est souvent un vin sucré pour le domaine et cette année, c’est un excellent – juste un peu de finition minérale et saline…

Un nez plus frais et minéral, même un soupçon d’épices et de tabac. Voici un style de saveur minéral direct, presque musclé – qui va très longtemps. Pour garder 5 à 10 ans…
2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Petit Cazetiers
Naddeff en a quelques-uns qu’ils mélangent, mais ce plus petit 1er de Gevrey n’est que embouteillé en tant que tel ici. Il y a un baril cette année, mais en 24, celui-ci combiné avec les Goulots n’était encore qu’un baril.
Une largeur d’arôme plus aérée et florale. Dans la bouche aussi – quel vin élégant et fluide – quelle bête différente des Cazetiers ordinaires ! Tellement raffiné – j’adore ça.
2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Combe aux Moines
Environ 0,5 hectare, planté en 1954. « Jamais un terrain à haut rendement – une bonne année est de 8 barils. Cela voit les Petits Cazetiers, mais avec des « plaques » de roche beaucoup plus grandes.
Une plus grande échelle à cela, mais accentuée de fleurs et attrayante. Plus de fluidité et de complexité florale. Superbe finition. Oui !
2023 Charmes-Chambre
Vieilles vignes – plantées en 1910.
Profond, complexe, un soupçon de réduction dans celui-ci. Utra fluide, à cheval sur la frontière entre la texture soyeuse et veloutée. Puis une explosion de largeur de finition qui s’estompe très lentement… Tout simplement un excellent vin…

2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles-Vignes
Ouvert depuis la veille au soir.
Grand nez épicé. Tout comme le 23, celui-ci a une belle texture. La finition est longue et satisfaisante, bien que dans l’ensemble, je préfère le 23 aujourd’hui.
